Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Lonnie Ellis carries the logbook and spyglass off the guided missile cruiser USS Yorktown (CG 48) as she is decommissioned on board Naval Station Pascagoula, Miss. Yorktown has a proud 20-year history of service to her country and is the fifth ship to bear the name Yorktown. Following her decommissioning, the ship will be towed and transferred to the Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility in Philadelphia, Pa.

Die USS Yorktown (CG-48) war ein Lenkwaffenkreuzer der United States Navy. Das zur Ticonderoga-Klasse gehörende Schiff war in der Zeit von 1984 bis 2004 im Dienst. Die Yorktown war ihre gesamte Dienstzeit an der Atlantikküste der Vereinigten Staaten stationiert und befuhr neben dem Atlantik auch die Karibik, das Mittel- und Schwarze Meer sowie das Europäische Nordmeer.
