Turtle eggs on Inakahama Beach Yakushima. Researchers dug some nests close to the shore out, counted the eggs, and buried them again on a safer location a bit further away from the shore to have them protected in case of a taifun. No eggs were harmed in the process. The turtle is most likely a Caretta caretta (loggerhead turtle).
There were a total of 117 eggs in the nest, slightly less than the average of ca. 130.
