True BloodTrue Blood ist eine US-amerikanische Drama-Fernsehserie mit Horror- und Fantasy-Elementen von Alan Ball. Sie wurde am 7. September 2008 erstmals beim Bezahlsender HBO ausgestrahlt. True Blood spielt in der Gegenwart und basiert auf der Buchreihe Sookie Stackhouse von Charlaine Harris. Die Serie hat den Aufbruch der Vampire in die amerikanische Gesellschaft und die Koexistenz mit den Menschen zum Thema. True Blood spielt in einer kleinen fiktiven Stadt in Louisiana und zeigt Parallelen zur Emanzipation Homosexueller und den Umgang mit der schwarzen Bevölkerung in den reaktionären Südstaaten der USA. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Liebesgeschichte zwischen Sookie Stackhouse, einer mit telepathischen Fähigkeiten ausgestatteten, von Grund auf guten jungen Frau, und dem Vampir Bill Compton.
