Beschreibung:
St Mary's church The tower of St Mary's church was never completed; a wooden bell cage was erected in 1531 as a temporary measure. The bell cage houses five bells; it is believed that the bell cage was originally situated in the eastern part of the churchyard and was moved to its present location during the 17th century. The bells of St Mary's are the heaviest currently rung in England (they weigh approximately 4,400 kilogrammes) and they are the only bells that are not rung by rope and wheel but by pure force of hand.
