This seal probably belongs to Isaac Comnenos, the brother of Alexius I and general of the East. He played a crucial role in the rebellion against Nicephorus III and Alexius’ accession in 1081. The seal likely dates to before Alexius’ rise to power, when Isaac received the newly created title sebastokrator.
