AWM caption : At sea. New Guinea. Five unidentified sailors prepare to test fire a 15 cm (5.9 inch) gun on board the German armed merchant raider, SMS Wolf. The ship's railing has been lowered on hinges allowing the gun barrel to protrude from the ship and was hidden under sheets of canvas when not in use, allowing the raider to be easily disguised as a merchant ship. This image is from a collection relating to the voyage of the German raider, SMS Wolf (II), and was taken by an unidentified crew member.
