Illustrated nautical map of the Cochinchinese coast, depicting Fayfo (Hội An), the Bay of Tourane (Đà Nẵng) and the city of Huế on the banks of the Perfume River. The map is dedicated to the Maréchal de Castries (French Navy secretary) and was probably created in the wake of the Treaty of Versailles of 1787 between Louis XVI and Nguyễn Ánh (represented by Pigneau de Béhaine). Le Floch de la Carrière had visited Vietnam in 1755-1756; this map of 1787 is his second version depicting the region (the first version was published in 1775 in D'Après de Mannevillette's Neptune Oriental second edition).
