the male figure excavated from Mohenjodaro , Mohenjo-daro (Urdu: موئن جودڑو, Sindhi: موئن جو دڙو, Hindi: मोहन जोदड़ो, English: Mound of the Dead) was one of the largest city-settlements of the Indus Valley Civilization of south Asia situated in the province of Sind, Pakistan. Built around 2600 BCE, the city was one of the early urban settlements in the world, existing at the same time as the civilizations of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Crete. The archaeological ruins of the city are designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is sometimes referred to as "An Ancient Indus Valley Metropolis"[1].

Statue National Museum Karatschi 50.852Die Statue National Museum Karatschi 50.852, auch oft als Priesterkönig bezeichnet, wurde in Mohenjo-Daro gefunden. Sie ist 17,5 cm hoch erhalten und etwa 11 cm breit. Das Werk ist aus Steatit gefertigt. Der untere Teil der Statue fehlt, sodass es sich heute nur noch um eine Büste handelt. Die Figur gilt als Hauptkunstwerk der Indus-Kultur und wird immer wieder im Kontext mit dieser Kultur dargestellt. .. weiterlesen
