Queen's South Africa Medal, 1899-1902 with three bars Medal awarded to 422 Pte. Charles Augustus Pollett, City of London Imperial Volunteers, Rifle Detachment (CIV). With bars for Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal. silver medal; three bars; plain straight swivelling suspender; with ribbon obverse- crowned and veiled head of Queen Victoria and legend VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX reverse- Britannia with a flag in her left hand and holding out a laurel wreath in her right towards an advancing party of soldiers; in the background are two warships; below the wreath, in two lines- 1899-1900 in relief; around top- SOUTH AFRICA bars- CAPE COLONY - ORANGE FREE STATE - TRANSVAAL ribbon- red with two dark blue stripes and a broad orange central stripe medal named on edge- 422 PTE.
