An information board at the organ gave the following explanation:

The Heen en Weer (the Back and Forth) was built in 1909 by the organ builder J. Burssens in Antwerp (Belgium), and it is the oldest known organ of this brand. Originally it was used as a dance organ. Shortly after the First World War, the organ was moved to the Netherlands and converted into a compact street organ (barrel organ). This was the fate of many Belgian dance organs at that time. However, this instrument itself has been well preserved in its original volume, and the major part of the front that it is now sees is still the original. Only the cap on top of the organ was created as in those years. (...) When the organ for the centennial celebration "100 jaar Orgelbouw Bursens" (100 years of organ builder Bursens) in October 2008, Alberic Godderis from De Panne the chance to discoverd this instrument and decided to get this historical instrument in his workshop. The instrument was made back ready to play, it had given. Organ after the centennial spirit Mechanically, the instrument is back on his feet. Later followed some adjustments to optimize the instrument musically again completely. (...)
