Grade II listed piece of coal, Bedwellty Park, Tredegar This large 15 ton piece of coal was cut for the Great Exhibition of 1851. Originally 20 tons but a 5 ton piece broke away in transportation. However, it was not transported to London as it was feared it would not survive the journey. It was subsequently set up in the grounds of Bedwellty House. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1180380 The smaller block of 2 tons was cut 100 years later and exhibited at the Festival of Britain.
