False Boneset (Kuhnia eupatorioides) in flower on Mixed Grass Prairie of Lacreek NWR. Not all wildflowers have showy colors. In this case, false bonset produces cream to ivory colored flowers. False boneset has one of the deepest root systems on the prairies, reaching over 17 feet into the soil. During severe droughts, it may be one of the only forbs to produce flowers.
