Euroroute The infamous A75. The main road to the shortest crossing between Ireland and Great Britain at Stranraer/Cairnryan. Nearly all single carriageway, getting stuck behind a lorry is a certainty. Given the costs of the ferry, many lorries to and from Ireland, even far south, use the short crossing and hence this route.
The A75 is effectively the London - Belfast road. They shut the railway. Even before low cost air travel. Belfast- London was the busiest domestic air route.
