"History of Lorain County, Ohio". 1879. Facing page 141. (The biography that begins on page 143 identifies subject as "Edwin Dorr Holbrook" and gives his date of birth as October 10, 1835. All other bio details correspond to Edward Dexter Holbrook, including names of parents and siblings, service in Congress, and death in Idaho. In addition I found no other contemporary references to someone named Edwin Dorr Holbrook, including newspapers and census records. It seems that the name Edwin Dorr Holbrook is an error, and the illustration and bio are those of Edward Dexter Holbrook.)
