An approximate version of the state emblem or national coat of arms of Sudan before 1970, based on the following two sources:

1. The International Flag Book in Color by Christian Fogd Pedersen (1971), p. 91.
2. The 1972 edition of the Petit Larousse encyclopedia/dictionary, p. 1708.

Information on this emblem is somewhat hard to come by, the above two available sources differ in a number of details, and my artistic skills are somewhat limited, so this image undoubtedly differs from the original official Sudanese government specification of the emblem, but all the elements of the emblem should be present.

The Arabic text reads جمهورية السودان jumhuriyat as-Sudan "The Republic of Sudan".

Das Wappen des Sudan wurde 1969 eingeführt. Es zeigt einen Sekretär, der einen Schild aus der Zeit von Muhammad Ahmad, des selbsternannten Mahdi, der kurzzeitig Sudan im 19. Jahrhundert regierte, trägt. Der typisch afrikanische Vogel ist als Alleinstellungsmarkmal gegenüber den arabischen Saladin-Adlern und Quraisch-Falken gewählt. Das Wappen trägt zwei arabische Schriftbanner: das obere zeigt den Staatswahlspruch النصر لنا an-naṣr lanā, das untere den Staatsnamen جمهورية السودان ǧumhūrīyat as-sūdān. .. weiterlesen
