Britain Builds Light Cars- the British Automobile Industry, UK, 1945
A newly-constructed car is tested in the cold room of a car factory, somewhere in Britain. According to the original caption "it has been exposed to sub-zero temperature conditions for three days. Engine startability tests are carried out and observations cover the efficient operation of electrical components and controls". The car has piles of ice all over the bonnet and the scientist carrying out the tests on the car is wearing a jumpsuit to protect him from the cold.

This photograph was scanned and released by the Imperial War Museum on the IWM Non Commercial Licence. The image was catalogued by the IWM as created for the Ministry of Information, which was dissolved in 1946. Consequently the image and faithful reproductions are considered Crown Copyright, now expired as the photograph was taken prior to 1 June 1957.
