At Berlin Greifswalder Straße, Deutsche Reichsbahn Class 270 became 485 in the Deutsche Bahn DBAG scheme of things. Numbering was from 005 to 170 and they were introduced between 1990 and 1992. This one must have been a very early production series vehicle, as it was the only one I encountered. This is a rear view . Perhaps it is on a test journey, as no destination is shown and no S- number also. Subsequently they received the mid-red DB livery and later the more usual dual tone livery. This would have been part of a pair 057/058.
Not sure if that is a hair or a dangling cable on the slide. Originally the units arrived as 4-car sets, with two trailers sandwiched between two motor units, carrying two numbers, such that 057/058 would be a four-car unit. On becoming class 485, the 4-car set achieved just one number. The first series (1 Serie) ran , following the prototypes , between 270 025/6 until 270 087/8 - becoming 485 013-044. Thus DR 270 057/8 became DB 485 029.
