The Bahamas Sawshark had been swimming around quite a bit, and I had done a lot of shuffling here and there to try and photograph him with zero success. He then disappeared completely. Imagine my surprise when I found him snugly straddled atop the acrylic tunnel I was walking through, not budging for a long time, hence allowing me to take all the pictures I wanted! This fish is a poorly known tropical sawshark that prefers deep water. It is endemic to the Bahamas region, and is known from only a limited number of specimens. Despite the menacing appearance of this sawshark, it tends to feed primarily on fish and crustaceans like other species of its kind.[4] They feed primarily on the seafloor.[4] Although most shark species tend to spend most of their time solitary, sawsharks are known to form schools.
