1972 Лимузин ЗИЛ-114 (СССР) , Zil-114 Limousine (USSR) - Flickr - denizen24
These limousines of the Brezhnev-era were all built at the Likhachev automotive plant in Moscow, and only for politicians. Earlier specimens such as this have become quite rare, and the total production (1967-1978) of standard models yielded no more than 123 units. In the latter years, about 2 dozen special versions were also built, including shorter units (Zil-117), several hatched-roofed versions(Zil-114K) and 2 wagons (Zil-114EA), all to take part in various government convoys. The Zil 425ci V8 engine featured an aluminum cylinder block, a transistorised ignition system and hydraulic valve lifters. The entire car was designed around a very stiff armored passenger compartment.
The suspension was designed to provide a very stable ride and did not tilt in any direction upon accelerating, braking or cornering. The main systems of the car were also duplicated: two battery backup systems, redundant brake system, etc.Relevante Bilder
