Autor/Urheber: peteshep, Lizenz: CC BY-SA 2.0

Old All Saints Church, Howick, Auckland, NZ, by architects Frederick Thatcher and possibly Reader Wood. Initially 1847, the church was prefabricated at St John's College and shipped to Howick. The structure of scissor trusses and diagonal bracing shows on the outside. Colonial New Zealand timberwork with some English/European influence. Wood shingle roofing and vertical board-and-batten wall sheathing.

There wasn't a separate belfry tower, but a spire tower over the steep crossing as shows above. The plan was that of a traditional Latin cross but in 1862 it was necessary to add a second aisle (right) to accommodate the growing congregation.

Acacia Cottage

This cottage was erected in Shortland Street in 1841. The timber was obtained from Whangaroa and was brought to Auckland and landed on the beach which is now Fort Street.

The building was actually built by Mr. William Brown and Dr. John Logan Campbell who occupied it for many years. It was later continuously occupied by storemen of the firm Brown Campbell Co until 1920 when it was removed to Cornwall Park.
