Samoanische Polizeiband mit Lava-Lavas
Ein Lava-Lava ist ein Männerrock, der traditionell in Polynesien, besonders auf Samoa getragen wird. Er ist dem Sarong und dem Pareo aus Südasien und dem Longyi aus Myanmar sehr ähnlich, sodass die Namen manchmal auch synonym verwendet werden. Ähnlichkeiten bestehen auch zum Kikoi in Ostafrika und dem Belted Plaid in Schottland.

The Royal Samoan Police Band performed American Samoa’s anthem before the United States Marine Forces Pacific Band played at a public concert in Fagatogo April 14. The concert kicked off the festivities for the nation’s 110th Flag Day. “This concert is a big deal here,” said Staff Sgt. Junior Fuimaono, a Marine Corps recruiter in American Samoa. “There are many prior service members here on the island and they want to hear something more professional than what we normally hear.”
