Statues inside the Fortrees of St. Elisabeth, Kropyvnytskyi city, Ukraine. Represents mothers who lost their children as a result of the crimes of totalitarian regimes and the warriors who died in the battles for the city. 80 years of the Victory over Nazism, and the Europe day 2025
This fortress is also a site of crimes against humanity: Soviet special services secretly buried thousands of civilians killed during the Holodomor and mass repressions here, after the archives were opened and the USSR collapsed, a separate memorial was created here. And during World War II, the Nazis and local collaborators killed and tortured more than 50,000 prisoners of war, partisans and civilians here. Most of those killed were ethnic Ukrainians, and Jews
