Le bâtiment a été ouvert au public en 1901 dans le parc Kelvingrove.
"Most of the founding contents were bequeathed by Archibald McLellan, a coach builder, who died in 1854. His name lives on at the McLellan Galleries in Sauchiehall Street. Objects from overseas expeditions by such famous explorers as David Livingstone, Charles Darwin and Captain Cook were added to the collections. The total number of objects in the collections now stands at over 200,000 items. "

The remains of Townhead-Blochairn Church of Scotland, Roystonhill, Glasgow. Designed for the Church of Scotland by Campbell Douglas and JJ Stevenson and built in 1865. It barely made its centenary before being closed due to low congregation numbers. It had stained-glass windows designed by Glasgow artist Daniel Cottier and made by William Morris & Co.
The church was sold into private ownership in 1992 and used as a warehouse. Despite being an A-Listed protected structure, eventually the church building was demolished because of the neglect of the structure. The tower and spire were preserved and the surrounding site turned into a park and play area. The site is gated and locked to prevent access when the nearby nursery on the same site closed.

Tobacco Merchant's House, 42 Miller Street Restored by Glasgow Building Preservation Trust in 1995, this pretty little classical house is the last surviving tobacco laird's house left standing in the Merchant City. Badly altered and ruinous when the Trust acquired it, the restored building now provides a home for many of the City's leading architectural and amenity organisations including GBPT itself and the Scottish Civic Trust. Across the narrow wynd is the Italianate facade of the original Stirling Library by James Smith.

Doulton Fountain Originally gifted to Glasgow for the International Exhibition of 1888 in Kelvingrove Park, the Doulton Fountain was the largest terracotta fountain in the world. The fountain features four groups of figures representing India, Canada, South Africa and Australia. Above these is a tier of three soldiers and a sailor representing Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales, and above these four female water-bearers clad in flowing gowns. On the top, symbolically surveying her dominions stands Queen Victoria bearing the orb and sceptre. When Glasgow Green's renewal was first mooted, a survey was commissioned to assess the extent of the repairs which would be required to restore the magnificent edifice to its former glory. Ibstock Hathernware was commissioned to restore and replace the statuary and moulded detail and Glasgow-based Hunter and Clark to undertake the huge task of dismantling the massive structure and rebuilding the fountain on its new site. Now the Doulton Fountain, superbly restored, sits as the centrepiece of a new civic space fronting the People's Palace.

North Glasgow College This building wasn't always a seat of learning, originally being built in 1909 as the Administrative and Drawing Offices of the former North British Locomotive Company of Scotland. Directly across the street (to the left of picture) was the Hyde Park Works, where many railway engines were built. In a strange quirk of fate, after the old locomotive works were demolished and the site cleared, it is the college that is expanding, and a new campus is being built to replace the current red standstone building.

Buildings of the Burrell Collection, Pollock Park, Glasgow Sir William Burrell (former ship-owner) set stringent conditions in his will on the siting and display of his magnificent collection of art works - the fruits of a lifetime of assiduous collecting. Only after many years in mothballs did they finally see the light of day in this purpose-built gallery. The priceless medieval tapestries used to lie piled on the floor in Sir Williams's home where he would show them to privileged guests like a carpet salesman demonstrating his wares.
